At the movies

As you may have heard, the first movie made from the last book of the Harry Potter series was released today.

The premier, for those who absolutely could not wait, was at 12:01 AM at many theaters. This is a big deal, so of course I got my head painted to get ready.

My friend Sam did the painting. She is terrific.

For those of you that never knew or don't remember, at one point in the saga the evil wizard Valdemort has nearly died and been reduced to a disembodied spirit. On his way to returning to his full power and independence, he occupies the body of Professor Quirinus Quirrel, with Valemort's face coming out of the back of Quirrell's head.

Trust me, it works in the story.

And it worked great on my head.

Dinner was accompanied by butterbeer and followed with pumpkin pasties, before we set out for the theater at 9:00.

Three hours early and the line for seats was already started but still indoors. I barely got in the door before I had to stop and allow pictures, and accept lots of comments of approval.

The movie was good, but would be incomprehensible to anyone that didn't know the story well. I had a lot of fun, even though it pretty much ruined the next day for me. I'm pretty sure that I was the oldest person there - I don't know what to think about that - but I know that I had a great time.
